I should get whatever award goes with that title! I've had many dumb moments, pregnant and not pregnant. But what I did last Friday tops them all!
I have this nerdy zip up binder that has all my important papers in it: calendar, list of bills to pay, passwords to anything and everything I have online, my extensive list of to-do's before & after Wyatt gets here (I have to write these things down, or I'll forget!), the schedule for our childbirth classes at the hospital and more! I usually keep it at the house, but I do take it with me to work sometimes.
I took it to work on Friday and when I got home I took it inside, or so I thought. Saturday morning I was looking for it and I couldn't find it. Andy helped me tear apart the house and my car, no luck! Then I thought I might have left it at work. Sunday after church we stopped by my office and searched all the offices, drawers, everywhere! Monday morning I asked all the guys at work if they took it & hid it somewhere. That's a popular game at our office if someone leaves their cell phone laying around! They all said no, then I threatened them with bodily harm if they did take it! They still said said that they didn't do it and they wouldn't do anything like that to me. I didn't believe them, but I let the issue go. Last night we went through the entire house again. Andy even looked in the fridge, freezer, oven, pantry, laundry room, all the closets, and the trash bin outside. Just to make sure I didn't put it somewhere stupid! Still no luck.
He told me to not worry about it and that he knew it would show up somewhere. I had prayed on Monday that I stop worrying about it and to not focus my thoughts on it all the time. I had accepted the fact that I learned a very important lesson the hard way: don't take sensitive information out of the house & keep it in a safe place! I changed all my passwords on the most important stuff and was going to start a new to-do list.
But...at 11pm last night, one of our neighbors 5 blocks south of us had found it on the side of the road with some of the papers blowing around on the street. I had put it on the roof of my car and left it there on my way to work Friday morning!!! He picked it up and put it in his car. He told us he had forgotten about it being in his car until last night. He said he didn't really want to go through it, but knew he had to in order to find it's owner. He found our cell phone bill and called Andy's cell phone last night. Andy jumped out of bed and drove to the guy's house, thanked him profusely, told him I was pregnant and crazy! All my papers were there except my password list. I can't imagine that the guy would call us and give it to us and keep that list, but I'm not being naive about it. I had already changed all my important passwords, so I'm not too worried, but I'll have to keep a look out. The list could very well my in my papers at home anyway!
So, moral of the story for me:
1. Don't take important papers out of the house! Especially when pregnant. When we go to the hospital I will put Andy in charge of the papers we have to take. That's still a scary thought, but he's better than I am!
2. A list of usernames and passwords is not necessarily a good idea. And that list should stay in one secure place at home!
3. Stop putting things on the roof of the car! First it was donuts, then this!!! What's next? Oh my, how are we going to care for this baby, please start praying for us now!!!
4. Slow down, take a deep breath, relax, stop going a mile a minute!!!
Feel free to give me a hard time or advice OR make me feel better and tell me about your dumb moments, pregnant or not!
